Who can help
from Buddy-in?
Buddy-In is a digital medical device for social skills training designed for children and adolescents aged 10–18 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Social (Pragmatic) Communication Disorder (SCD).
Children and adolescents with ASD or SCD may experience difficulties in social situations such as these:
Reading Facial Expressions and Emotions
Understanding cues like eye contact, facial expressions, and tone of voice can sometimes be challenging.
Starting and Keeping a Conversation Going
It can be hard to know how to start a conversation, what to say next, or how to keep it going naturally.
Making and Maintaining Friendships
Approaching peers, forming friendships, and staying connected can sometimes be difficult.
Navigating Social Situations at School and in Everyday Life
Situations like class, recess, group activities, or spending time with others can call for social skills that don't always come naturally.

User-Involved Product Development
Buddy-In is designed to address the social challenges commonly experienced by children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social (Pragmatic) Communication Disorder (SCD).
The product was developed with input from a wide range of users, including therapists, special education teachers, physicians, parents, and children themselves. Their experiences helped shape scenarios based on real-life situations where social skills are needed.
Theoretical Foundation
Buddy-In uses scenario-based interventions built around core elements of in-person Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Social Skills Training (SST).
Assessment → Goal Setting → Cognitive Restructuring → Skill Training → Generalization & Maintenance
The program assesses each child's current social functioning, sets individualized goals, helps them reinterpret challenging social situations, guides them in practicing appropriate responses, and supports them in applying what they've learned to everyday life.
Clinical Evidence
A confirmatory clinical trial was completed across five institutions in Korea with 86 children and adolescents aged 10–18 with ASD or SCD.
The trial showed a statistically significant improvement in the K-VABS-II Adaptive Behavior Composite (ABC) score compared with the control group.
Algorithm-based scenario design
Mobile scenario-based games and an algorithm-driven structure provide training tailored to each user’s level.
Parent Reports
Parents receive reports that show what their child is learning and help them track changes in social skills over time.
Clinician Monitoring System
Usage, performance, and training progress are automatically recorded, allowing clinicians to monitor each user’s progress in real time and incorporate the information into clinical care.
"Now I can follow the school rules super well."
- Post-intervention interview, 12-year-old boy with ADHD
"Seeing the steps laid out visually made it so much easier for him to understand what to do,
and he seemed to build better self-awareness of his executive function."
- Post-intervention interview, guardian of an 8-year-old boy with ASD & ADHD
A Tablet-Based Digital Therapeutic for Enhancing Executive Function
buddy-step

※ BuddyStep is a medical device currently under development and undergoing clinical trials, and has not yet received manufacturing certification from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of Korea.
Children navigate real everyday school scenarios—arriving at school, class time, recess, mealtime, and dismissal—through engaging games, training four core areas of executive function: inhibition, working memory, organization, and cognitive flexibility.
Structured as a 6-week (30-session) curriculum, repeated scenario-based training naturally strengthens children’s executive function

📡 3 Sensing Layers,
1 AI Brain
Real Needs
Supporting the improvement of shared executive function challenges in children with ASD and ADHD.
Theoretical Background
Applies scenario structures and intervention techniques grounded in EF-CBT.
Clinical Evidence
Exploratory clinical trials completed across 3 clinical sites; confirmatory trial currently in preparation.
Step-by-Step Mission Design
Tailored mini-game content target specific sub-domains of executive function
(inhibition, working memory, organization, cognitive flexibility).
Personalization Algorithm (ADM)
Delivers a personalized training experience by automatically adjusting after-school game difficulty based on real-time response data.
3 Sensing Layers, 1 AI Brain
Non-invasively collects biometric and behavioral data using the tablet's built-in front camera and microphone.
An Evidence-Based Program for Four Core Executive Functions

Inhibition
Trains children to control impulsive responses and react appropriately in everyday school situations, such as timing their movements or waiting patiently in line.

Working Memory
Strengthens working memory through exercises in remembering and executing multi-step instructions, such as navigating to a classroom or connecting dots in sequence..

Organization
Builds planning and task-organization skills through structured activities like scheduling to-do items or planning meal portions.

Cognitive Flexibility
Fosters flexible problem-solving skills by practicing how to adapt rules and strategies when unexpected situations arise, such as missing an eraser or breaking a pencil.
PARTNERSHIP
User-centric development involving end-users and
treatment specialists directly from the development stage.
